My poor old KN7000 is beginning to really show wear. I am having a problem of the Sequencer/Reset button working. It has gotten so weak that I have to press it several times before it will reset. Maddening!!! It is probably the contact underneath has sunk over time from using it so much. Does anyone know how difficult it is to take the cover off and perhaps pull the button inside up further to make a better contact? It is getting to the point that the only way to get the song back to Intro or measure one is to go into Punch Record for it to automatically go into start position. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Mark this is not my area but I remember using a spry to clean controls on electronic instruments. Got good results -- the problem is always access. How do I reach it? Spraying around the button may do it.

I’m sure you’ll get more opinions shortly.

P
S, purchased the, I think it was called tuner spray, at Radio Shack.

Thanks, John. I wondered about using a spray and I have a can of it around here that I bought years ago. I'll have to find it. It may well help but I think the button is weak and has pushed slightly down in the keyboard and is the reason for it not making a good contact.

There's a manual here - http://www.synthzone.com/midi/technics/ - which explains how to take your keyboard apart...look in the KN7000 files area.

Thanks, Rog. I have the manual. Even so, I was wondering if anyone has taken the cover off. I would not want to have to unplug things inside in order to fully remove the top cover.

I did find the can of air and used it around the button. It has helped but I think the button is somewhat depressed and needs to be pulled up. It no doubt is getting faulty.

I think John was talking about me sort of spray contact cleaner rather than compressed air.

Hi Nige,

In the past I have had a can of silicone spray especially for electronic components and I thought what I had was it. As it is, it is the compressed air. I will buy a can of the silicone spray and try it. I would really like to feel brave enough to remove the cover but I sure don't want to run into a situation of having to remove a bunch of connections to get the cover off.

Yep, I can understand your caution. Unscrewing a keyboard can be an intrepid task.
