I began noticing what looked like finger smudges on about 19 of the white keys. I tried a dry rag to clean them - nothing. I tried a damp rag - nothing. I tried a small amount of a mild liquid cleaner - nothing.

I took pictures and sent them to Roland who asked for the keyboard to be sent back to them. I'll keep you posted here as to the outcome.

This is the first time I have seen the key finish on a keyboard wear thin. There were about 19 keys that looked like someone with dirty fingers had just been playing. Strange. I suspect Roland will send me a new keyboard.

Had a similar situation with my Roland FR-7X accordion, but instead of smudges the keys (abt 8 of them) were scratched. The accordion was about 3 months old at the time. Actually, some of the scratches were more like gouges. The deterioration seemed to be an ongoing thing.

Took the accordion to Audio Electronics, a Roland service center, there in Dallas and the keyboard was replaced under warranty. No questions asked! No determination was ever made about the cause.

Audio Electronics does excellent work! Sure beats sending the board out to LA!

Do you use anything like a hand sanitizer, lotion, a moisturizer?

What are you using in the way of a case? Do you store any rags, cloths etc. in the case?
