I have a Gatsby party tonight in Philly - all roaring 20s style tunes. I can't wait! It's nice to have a fresh take on a show, and I'm sure I'll find myself "blending" some newer standards in with the old ones ... just keeping the style reminiscent of the 20s. It's gonna be fun!

WoW Dave. I know all of those. The kids wrinkle their nose and the oldies just smile and sigh when I play them. Most of them anyway.
Even tho I just play for fun, I still think those songs had more guts to them than most moderns.

This was a 40s crowd in Society Hill ($$$) Philly, and they had a ball! Only problem was the FOUR flights of narrow stairs leading to their AMAZING loft condo. Another reminder of how fortunate I am to love the sound O get from that SINGLE Korg PA900 and a SINGLE Bose Compact. Two trips up the steps, teeeny footprint and stellar sound. Nothing else would have done this job better ... or even FIT in the allotted space!
No handTruck access either ... another reason I travel light.

Tried using the 20's type EQ on your mike input to the arranger, UD?

It's a lot of fun and brings quite a bit of authenticity to doing that old 20's and 30's stuff. Along with a bit of that phonograph needle noise (I think most arrangers have some of that in the SFX set).
