I only have dial-up so I can't view these clips.

Can anyone tell if this box would be a useful addition to an arranger keyboard?

electro-harmonix - 8 step program pedal

it is used to vary sounds by utilizing dedicated effects that can be controlled by expression pedal. but the effects are limited and permanently assigned- glide, tempo, etc. it is really not versatile or customizable like a midi foot controller is. behringer makes a small unit that can be set to control specific actions via midi as well as the fcb1010 foot controller. both are better suited for keyboards. look st the bcr series desktop midi controllers on behringer website.

Sparky, I bought a fc1010 and tried to make it work with PSR S950, but gave up and sent it back.
I don't see another Behringer midi controller.
Thanks,

Look at their bcr2000 and bcf2000 desktop units. I recall John Smies posting about them I believe he still has one. Some models are discontinued.

I have read tons of reviews saying how difficult programming fcb1010 is. Most give up and put them on eBay..

I'm pretty sure that's a sequencer and not a controller. If you need to play Baba O'Reily .... that's your gear.

Yamaha could make external control a lot easier, though...

A lot of things that you can control with CC's on most brands takes sys-ex strings on the Yamaha. And this is a LOT more difficult to program correctly, especially if a variable is involved (checksum calculations, anyone?!).

At some point or another, I simply wish the arranger manufacturers would get together and agree on a common set of CC's and codes to control most common arranger operation functions. Not only would this make external foot control easier, but also linking and running two arrangers as one large arranger.

That's one of the big reasons I didn't stay with PSR S950. I couldn't find a foot controller that will play nice with the sys ex requirements that Yamaha uses, and I NEED at least three controls (the more the better).

I agree Don. I really like my Yamaha S910 except for that limitation of two controls. My Audya and even my trusty old KN7000 have dozens, which are only limited by the size of the pedal.
