On You Tube I saw an acoustic guitarist use an arranger module and a foot controller to provide rhythm accompaniment. This looked very awkward as he stomped on different buttons to change chords.

Later I read that the Korg PA3x could use its vocal unit to harmonise voice or midi input. Of course the Korg has a sequencer that could be used to do much the same albeit after manual programming.

I don't want to buy a midi guitar but with a Tyros 5/76 on order I'm hoping that there is some way to trigger chord changes after starting a style. If not with the VH2 then perhaps if I bought a separate harmoniser like the TC Helicon this would work?

Has anyone tried this?

Ian

Ian,

Was this Ron Crits - using the Ketron XD3, SD3 or AUDYA 4 as shown here -

* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiDdKRFloQc (Ketron XD3)
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMbHW9KEkok (Ketron XD3)
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iByuvbApWn8 (Ketron SD3)
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyDAHiSCLgc (Ketron SD3)
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFwVx5AQ9ZI (Ketron XD3)

I ask because a customer of ours had a Tyros 3 and couldn't use bass pedals to 'kick' the chords (as the guitarists say), so he ended up using an older Ketron X4 module and routed the signal from the midi bass pedals to that unit then from MIDI OUT, went into the Tyros 3's Midi in - and now he has the best of both worlds!

Thanks,

AJ

AJ,
Yes this is the performer and doing a great job both for himself and Ketron. That said I think he will need a need a new left hip before long smile

My concept is for the arranger or any ancillary device to provide the chord recognition of my acoustic guitar and for the arranger to follow.

On a side issue I was seriously considering the Audya before I bought my Tyros 5/76 but was put off by the extremely poor marketing in the UK (and other Europe sites). Sales with no competition as there is only one dealer, support not available from the European distributor Suzuki (do they own Ketron?) and very poor websites. I am aware from Henni here that you provide a great, even fantastic service but you are a long way from Scotland and importing an already very high priced product into the UK plus 20% tax plus transport made me drop the idea.

Thanks for your reply to my question.

Ian

Dan,

Thanks for your reply, but if you read my original post I said that I do not want to buy a MIDI guitar. I have no requirement to use the guitar to play sounds other than acoustic steel string.

What I found amazing is that guy playing the guitar looked a lot like me 40 years ago when I was playing an Ibanez 6-string in smoke-filled, hillbilly bars, wearing a black cowboy hat, my mustache was still dark brown, I had some neat cowboy boots, a couple pedals and a drum machine. Unfortunately, the Bose L1 that he's using wasn't available back then, so I was using a monster Peavey system that required a refrigerator dolly to get it from the van to the bar. And he's singing the same songs I sang back then - WOW!

Nice demo AJ,

This software converts the audio sound to midi notes. so you don't need a midi converter

Maybe just plug a microphone in your PC..

I will ask to the developper

You got pics?! cool

I love the country music from that classic period as well. I'm a huge fan of Country music legend Ray Price. Believe it or not he still performs (though he's been fighting pancreatic cancer) and still sounds amazing (terrific effortless vocal phrasing) and wow, at age (87)! Got to see him perform locally a few years ago. Other legendary Country singers of the honky tonk era I admire include: Hanks: Williams, Snow, and Thompson. smile Scott

Scott, I had the pleasure of working with Hank Thompson. He was in town for a Louisiana Hayride Reunion and stayed at the motel where I was playing. He sang all his big hits with me playing PSR2000. He had never seen an arranger and was pretty impressed that I could cover all his songs.
He died a couple years after that, but at the time his voice was every bit as good as it ever was.
Back when I was in Arkansas, my band opened a show for Ray Price. He was so stoned that two guys had to help him to the mic. I thought there was no way he was going to sing. He sort of slurred a few words of introduction, but when he started singing he never missed a note for an hour and a half. Then they helped him off the stage where his weed was waiting for him!
My friend played piano with him for a while several years back, but Ray developed throat cancer and they cut the tour short.
Between Willie and Ray, makes me think about taking up the wacky weed! smile
Back to the subject - Ron Crites has been around a long time and handles that gear very well. I pretty much did the same thing with Midjay, but of course used a keyboard controller so the one-legged dance wasn't necessary.
I'm interested in checking out the Midjay Pro when they get the bugs out. (I'm sure there will be some). Chances are the only move I'd really be tempted to make though is to Korg PA4X if and when it arrives.
