HI All,

Please help me with the MIC dsp settings on the S950: One thing which was strange is that the DSP on the mic needs to be enabled everytime. It doesnt stay constant. Or maybe I do not know how to do it. On my S900 whenever I put on the board the DSP settings for the MIC remained the same. Never needed to change it.Here the MIC DSP gets grayed the moment I change a VH type or something else. I want the DSP for the MIC to stay the same regardless of what else I do. Can this be achieved?

Thanks

Sunny

I found the same problem and approached Gary for a solution. Basically, you need to set up a user setting and refer to it whenever you need to go back to your preferred setting. But, yes I find it still reverts back to that darn delay setting; burns me up...

I also agree Yamaha needs to pay more attention to the VH section to make it user friendly. The s950 VH is improved, but still a hassle to use, for me. A pedal helps, but I like my G70 VH section that pretty much let me do everything on the fly right from the control area.

Sunny, with all of my past and current keyboards I set up a special registration just for the mic and pedal settings. Essentially, by selecting this particular registration immediately upon turning on the keyboard, the mic and pedal settings are set with a single button push (well almost).

Here's how to do it:

1. Press the registration Memory button. This opens the registration memory contents page.

2. Uncheck all boxes other than mic and pedal, then press Exit to go back to the main page.

3. Press the Function button, select Utility then using the "B" button on the left side of the display, tab down to the Parameter Lock and uncheck everything but Master EQ.

4. Press the Mic setting button, adjust the mic settings to the desired settings and save them as user settings. Exit to the main page, press Function/controller, and adjust the pedal settings as desired. Exit to main page.

5. Press the registration Memory button, then press registration button #1. Next, press the "J" button, followed by the Save (bottom of #6), name the registration, and press OK. This will save the registration permanently.

7. Press the Registration Memory button and when the registration contents page opens, UNCHECK pedal and Mic boxes. This prevents you from inadvertently overwriting those functions when making subsequent registrations.

8. Press Function/Utility and tab to Parameter Lock, scroll to Mic and place a check mark in that box. This will lock those settings until the keyboard is turned off.

Now, after the keyboard has been turned off, those settings will revert to factory default. To recall them, turn the keyboard on, press Function/Utility, scroll to Parameter lock and uncheck the Mic box. Next, press registration button #1, the indicator light will change from green to red. Press exit once, then place a checkmark in the Parameter Lock's mic box and exit to the main page and you're all set for the job. The settings should not change, even if you select another function.

Gary cool
