These are really sad news; at least he died at 83 in his sleep, in his bed and at his wife's side.
May he rest in peace.

In the early 60's, Jim had quit drinking and was passionate about "spreading the good word" about stopping alcohol consumption.

Sometimes, he would approach a bandstand; not to sit in, but to "talk" to someone he was worried about.

He did everything with conviction, and well deserved the respect
he garnered in his long, productive life.

I was lucky to have met and spent some time with him.
