It's an ideal function to use with an arranger because you can instantly remix a song using the original vocals but your own backing . If you are really creative it could work for a couple of items in your set of performances .

Ching, that is a spot on.I can see myself using it like that.Actually, that is what I thought the first time when they mentioned using wav files .Shouldn't be a big deal for Yamaha to make this work.

I agree with Tony on this one. I saw Latin super star Luis Miguel do a duet with Sinatra but the chairman of the board was on a video. I guess it went over well, but Luis Miguel is a star and actually recorded a duet tracks with Sinatra. Not to mention Luis Miguel had a whole orchestra, a choir, dancers, and of course a top notch stage production.

Can we get enough people to ask Yamaha to add these features? Shouldn't take more than 5 lines of programing...

Once I finally receive my Tyros 5 and can actually confirm (in person) that the ability to loop is missing, I'll definitely be contacting Yamaha to request they ADD the critically useful multi-pad looping features. That said, whether they actually do it is another matter, as my repeated requests (since Tyros 1 and 2) to update the MusicFinder to call up reg files never got anywhere, even though I had discussed this at Namm with the Tyros development guys Martin Harris & Simon Inkley of who sounded receptive to the idea at the time. Funny thing, like adding the looping feature to the multipad, I'd expect it only would take about 5 lines of programming achieve, but what the hell do I know, Don't shoot me, I'm just the piano player! - Scott keys

Since I'm already a 'BIG star' at least to 'my' local fan base grin
I'm pretty confident they'd 'eat it up' hearing the original hit singer's voice for at least a few bars like in "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". cool
For other tunes, I might utilize a 'signature 'vocal rift' hook line,
but either way, adding vocal audio triggered by the multipad buttons is no different than the instrumental rifts we already utilize in our arranger keyboard playing
and if limited to a song or two, can bring variety & spice to a show. - Scott smile

Scott Yee,

Not sure why you need to see it in person. You can take the manuals words for it. It says right there, black and white, under the heading "Audio Link Multi Pads" on page 67 of the T5 Owner's Manual "Automatic repeat playback not available".

So no need to wait! Look it up and call Yamaha!

I can see this as a way to add harmony vocals to something you are already singing lead on, but the way deb describes it, he abandons singing lead altogether, and this substitutes.

I am just very unsure if deb has ever done a real gig in his life. I'm pretty sure, if he had, he wouldn't have to ask us what we think... he would KNOW!
