A dughter of a friend wants to start playing keyboards/piano, great idea.. a real piano is out of the question however, as they have no room for that.

I advised him to buy a 2nd hand keyboard with atleast 76 keys and start out, but they want to buy a brand new one for christmass. (still so many people who would never buy 2nd hand stuff here in the Netherlands)

Now i spotted a Casio WK7600 online for €399 which looks great when you see the specs, anyone here that got experience with these Casio boards..

-How is the sound
-How are the styles
-How is the keybed feel?

Thanks in advance all...

(last time i adviced someone we could get our hands on a G70 relatively cheep and they are still having muchos fun with that, there is so much great things availble on the 2nd hand market)

The WK7600 has a very good keyboard but not the easiest to use! The Piano, electric pianos and organs are very good and the rest of the sounds are just ok. The styles are good but I'm not a fan of the drums. The Cymbal sounds need to be updated. Not as good as Yamaha's. The Yamaha YPG 235 is another very good choice for 76 key arranger. Here in the USA the keyboard sells for around $200 -$249. The Piano is good but all the sounds are good! The drums are much better and the cymbals sound like good cymbals not at all like the Casio.
There is a lot more you can do and program with the Casio but for a beginner these features are not easy to do. I have sold both products and find that the musician wanting to record and edit midi tracks and be able to record audio as well, and want a drawbar organ with leslie simulation would go for the Casio and the amateur would prefer the Yamaha.

Maybe, now that Yamaha have seen how well received the T576 is, they'll bring out low and mid-line versions. I've always said, a 76 S9x0 with a decent action (there are cheaper WS's in Yamaha's line with FAR better actions than the S950) would be one hell of an arranger...
