Got the tyros 5 61 today. Thank G-d.

Some brief first impressions to all those who can't wait for theirs to arrive! smile

Coming from a psr s950, theres good and bad when comparing it to the s950.
Keep in mind that as I don't have the tyros speakers, I am using it connected to the s950 speakers via line input. So I may not be hearing the real sound capability of it.
The bad:
Most styles are almost identical, feeling like there's no real difference from that aspect between the two boards. Also, very few, if any, new features. Even the drum kits are the same. Nothing new (in terms of kits).

The Good:
The SA2 sounds, especially the (i think) new flutes and other sa2 sounds are so realistic, and, like some said here, sounds; in a good way, comparable to korg's authentic'ness... and natural sounds. Its like having the best of both worlds!

Thats one of the things that isn't found on the s950. Also the screen (now this is on all tyros boards, but just comparing) is so clear and sharp compared to the s950.

The organ world feature, for my taste, isn't particularly useful, so I feel like its a wasted feature (for me).

However, the ensemble feature sounds pretty interesting, however i'm not sure how to use it 100% yet, and if it can be saved as registration, OTS etc., though it looks like it has potential.
Theres now a separate voice section for "A. Guitars" and "E. Guitars" (acoustic vs. electric) and the trumpet and brass sections are merged into one button "Brass".

About the audio styles, had not played with them much, but thats certainly one of the advantages over previous tyros models (but not s950).
The new (kind of) look and color of the tyros 5 over the 4 is very sleek, and I like it a lot.

The good news for owners of the s950, is, like I said, that they both sound almost identical, and if you have an s950, your not really missing much. That means the s950 is still a really great board.

In relation to previous tyros models, no real breakthrough here.

However if you have an older model (PRE s950) it is a worthwhile upgrade.

Still have to transfer/tweak/edit all my stuff and create new ones with, oh, i forgot to mention (because I haven't delved into it yet) the new FX. Looks a lot more user friendly, and from first looks appears to have more options. (I.e. more effects at a time).

I hope the above lines was helpful for those considering upgrading from the s950; and wishing all those who ordered a t5, or will order one, good luck, and enjoy playing.

If theres enough demand, I may make a video demo either of the t5 alone, or maybe compare it with the s950.
