Wikifonia appears to be down. Is this permanent?

Tom, this has happened several times during the past few months. Each time they said it was housekeeping.

Bernie, you may be right - I just checked their page and got the same message, only this time it was generated by them and not windows. Bad news, but thank goodness we still have Chordie.

Their facebook page has not got any new messages since April...

I'm very surprised it has been allowed to operate as long as it has. It HAS to be costing sheet music publishers lots of money!
It's a great resource if you need lead sheets.

From what I read, they actually paid royalties for each download. So maybe it just got too expensive for them to continue to operate in this manner, or they might have lost some of their sponsors. Keep in mind that a lot of the sites survive only because they have advertisers. My son's site is a classic example - thousands upon thousands of hits daily for a free game. His advertisers love him and pay him well.
