Now I've done it!!!!

Tonite I was having fun playing my Tyros 5. I was playing the concert organ in Organ World and got a little aggressive with the volume while playing Rule Britannia with the Tutti. I literally blew the back panel out of my KLH duel 15" speaker!! The actual speakers are undamaged..........only the back wood panel (which was only glued) came apart. These speakers are 12 years old so I'm not that disappointed. I will attempt to repair them but it might be time to replace them. I'm old school and know much more about conventional large speakers than the newer types. I know a lot of you gig with Bose systems but I am a home player. Any suggestions on which way to look?? I am used to large speakers staring me in the face!! Thanks. -charley

The Rokit G3's might be suitable. Their 6" speaker goes all the way down to 38hz. I recently attended a T5 demo which used the new MS05 speaker set, and included a pretty loud demonstration of the concert organ.

This was to about 25 peaple, and the entire demo was peformed only using the MS05 system, no other PA or amplification used. For home use I'd give it a listen. I'd heard the preceding MS04 system at previous events and been somewhat unimpressed but the MS05 sounded much better.

Charley,
may I suggest that you look first to active (i.e. amplified) speakers? They have an amplification system taylored to the loudspeakers (woofer and tweeter), so the chances of damaging them are almost non-existent.
We are discussing the speakers/monitors problem right now, in this thread.

Charley.....screw that KLH....literally...screw that panel back on the cabinet....You must have liked it...since you used it for 12 years...Why replace it?

BTW: When you are use to dual 15's..nothing else will satisfy you smile

Yes Fran........I agree. Having 2 duel 15" towers staring you in the face for years will be hard to improve. I glued and screwed the back panels in place and we'll see how long they hold together. Thanks. -charley
