It would be a much more interesting thread if there WAS an arranger keyboard involved, and a description of how everything was accomplished. Ya think!

Loved it. Latin Jazz is so enjoyable. I used to go to a local restaurant here in Los Angeles years ago to listen to a Latin Jazz musician Freddie Ravel who has been the muscial director for Earth Wind And Fire and also Al Jarreau ... I am addicted to that style of jazz ... it is so infectious. One night we were there Al Jarreau was eating there himself and was invited to sing a couple of songs with Freddie's band. He was there just having dinner with friends because it was his birthday that night. Later on that night I passed him in the restaurant and shook his hand and thanked him for his performance. He just laughed and said "Yep, singing on my birthday". It was a real treat.

When I think back Freddie was using a Kurzweil 2000 for the organ sound on this. Boy he made it sound great. It just shows that it is all about the musicianship and not the technology.

Ran into Al in Cedar Rapids when i used to visit there for work regularly. His dad was a maintenance person at the factory I visited.

Al went to Graduate School there...Psychology, I think. Saw him and sat in briefly at a small jazz club he worked.

Deserves ALL THE SUCCESS HE HAS EARNED!
