Guys, thank you very much for all the posts.I am just surprised that media coverage is so poor both in USA and Canada.WHY????That is what I don't get.

and right here in my town in NJ it's still a mess from
17 months ago Hurricane Sandy devastated the shore,..
hardly seen on the news anymore also. Miles of homes not even there anymore it looks so barren here. Mother nature will take her toll year after year all over the world again & again.
And dont forget Katrina in LA also.

Well, Hurricane Sandy and Katrina were at least covered a lot worldwide at the time they happened, whereas it doesn't seem to be the case with the current Balkan floods.
But it surely is a bitter fact in life that events which are geographically closer get much more attention even if other events are much worse.

This is so very sad. Even sadder is that the media here have not really covered the situation. Thanks so much mirza for bringing it to our attention.

Yesterday I paid attention in what way the Balkan flood was covered in the most popular German news program, Tagesschau. They mentioned it rather towards the end of the news, said it was dramatic and showed some pictures. They did NOT show any account numbers or phone numbers how to donate money. Often this is done in the case of disasters. I really don't know why the charity organizations seem to be less active in this case, and what the criteria are...

You can't really do anything until the water recedes and you can gain access to start to clean up and repair things.

Rescue operations and human health and feeding is all you can do until then.

The needs will be known and broadcast then I believe and we will help.
