Thank God for Laurens Hammond, Don Leslie, and Jimmy Smith, otherwise I might have grown up feeling about the 'organ' like I do about the accordion (sorry Tony) smile smile.

I used to play stuff like that when I was young and played the mighty Wurlitzers at the store where I gave lessons.

BUT

I have never wanted to sound like that as a musician or have my arranger keyboard sound like that. I have noticed that many of the European arranger players have a sound akin to that Lowrey fake pipe stuff. If I want a theater organ, then I'll consider one.

I would hope no arranger company would aspire to looking and sounding anything like this. it looks like something striaght from star trek !!!

Amazing instrument but that style puts Arramgers back in the home organ category of years ago. Something most of us try to avoid.

Didn't watch the whole thing, did they mention price? When I was doing the Hammond buy/sell thing we often got calls to appraise one of the 60's home beasts. My stock answer used to be

"I'll help you get it to the curb for the trashmen

What !! but my father/grandfater paid $$$$ when he bought it !

Sorry but they depreciate faster than a boat. "

Bill, thank you so much for posting this. My first real job after I got married was selling Lowrey Organs. I was still a college student and I was trying to do something besides play at night. Well, to make a long story short, I convinced the store owner to sell me a Lowrey organ with built in Leslie speakers at cost. I bought it for $900.00 and that along with a drum machine was my entry into the OMB world.

But I must agree with Cass and everyone else, this instrument, as amazing as it looks, still sounds cheesy like home organs sound. I'd never play one in public again. It was nice taking a look back.
