We have been using two Bose Compacts with our Tyros 4. Works nice in smaller environments.

We have been getting some larger gigs again and I've had concerns that the Bose compacts won't cut it...especially at the low end of the spectrum.

The local music store carries Yamaha...same store where we bought the Tyros 4. So I purchased a DXR15 powered speaker to use at the next gig.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the sound of the DXR15. The low end had been missing on the compacts in our larger venues.

I had thought of getting a Bose L1 Model II system with a B2 bass but honestly don't want to pay 3 times the cost of the DXR15...at least at this point.

I also thought of just buying a Bose B2 sub to use with the Bose compacts we have until I found out that the DXR15 has a mixer system that allows for use as the only speaker at a gig.

Like I said, we'll see how it goes.

The B2 Sub is not powered, so it's not gonna do what you want to do. And, I suspect you need to work with your keyboard's EQ settings if you're not getting enough bottom end from the compacts. There are times when just using a single compact the bass is way too much and I have to make adjustments on the keyboard to reduce the amount of bass/bottom end.

I have 2 DXR10 speakers and they work really well for 10" speakers. The bass is tight and travels nice in smaller rooms for our duo. On other DJ forums, they are saying the DXR15 is great and there's no need for a sub when the DSP switch is flipped up. You should be very happy with the quality, price and the huge SEVEN year warranty! Let us know what you find!!

You already have the Yamaha and I know they are top quality.
Another option if anyone wants a powered speaker/mixer is Carvin. I've been using their stuff for years and its always worth the price an more. Never had a problem with any of it.

Yamaha really came through with DXR and DSR speaker.They sound really, really good for their price.The only one I don't like is DSR 118 sub.It sounds good but it doesn't go well with dsr speakers..They needmore power to keep up with dsr112 and 115.I wish they made DSR10 .

First real test is this Sunday...in a hall that holds about 200 folks. Very active room...wooden floors etc.

We practiced in a larger room with the DXR15 last night. My wife, who is not normally too demonstrative...went wow! She loved the way her voice and the keyboard sounded. And it was very easy for the two of us to hear each other.

We won't be dumping the Compacts anytime soon. But the DXR15 really brought home how much bigger the sound can be.

Many of our gigs are just 15 to 25 people in smaller rooms. The small footprint of the Compact is hard to beat there. However, I think I'll be trying to decide each time if I shouldn't take the DXR15 instead, even in smaller gigs.

A year from now, I'll probably have a better feel for it all.
