This idea is not new, Ultimate Support had the A frames for many years and basically was the same idea. These look pretty good, but what about price?

It looks very cool but I get the feeling it would be a PITA to set up, tear down and load in and out. Until I have roadies, a simple x stand will suit me.

Are you kiddin me? That stand doesn't come close to the Quick Lock stands when it come remotely close to versatility or setup time. Not a prayer!

For the record, I've used USS stands for years and years now. Wouldn't use anything else. I can set up a stand for 2 keyboards (2 A-frames and 2 tiers) in under 2 minutes. All 4 pieces go into a nylon carrying case not much bigger than an umbrella. Unfortunately, I don't think USS make those stands anymore. If I'm correct, there was a thread on the subject 1-2 years ago here.

Anyhow, I thought playing music was about entertaining an audience rather than worrying about setup/teardown issues?

The first one is very similar to the one I made out of left over Ultimate Support parts. Set up is 30 seconds, it folds perfectly flat and weighs maybe a couple of pounds.

I like the A-Frame also Don....I also like the flexibility factor with these stands.....
you can create anything you need it for.

I have been using USS "A-Frame" stands for a long time too. I had someone "donate" a whole bunch of parts to me years ago (he just gave them to me) so I have more than enough extra parts. My stand sets up in ~15 seconds ... mainly 'cause I leave it fully together (but "folded") when transporting it. Granted, I use a Mini-van for transport. I just put the whole thing in the minivan "whole". At the gig, I unfold it, and it's ready. And I have lots of room on the floor for pedals and such. [I used to bring MIDI 18-note foot pedals, but I don't do that much anymore].

The USS A-Frame is not for everyone for sure, as it is a "big" unit (if left assembled), but it's lightweight and very fast to set up. On mine, I've added little lights, power distibution, etc.

That new stand (1st note in this thread) looks interesting - is is made for keyboards, or some other use?
