In my neighborhood in Dallas, TX I hear the sound of the accordion just about where ever I go: to the market, walking down the street, and parties... I thought some you accordion players might get a kick out of seeing this little girl jamming on the front porch here in my neighborhood.

Paul ... thank you for posting that ... if she keeps it up, before she knows it she will be playing like this:

This is the guy who played with the Django tribute band at the Newport jazz Festival this weekend ...

Not sure... A friend of mine posted it on her FB page. I'll see if I can find the original youtube video. You could see it, right?

Yeah Tony, that guy was amazing. He has such an effortless mastery of his instrument. What's his name?

montunoman,

That was the best video I've seen in a long time.

You don't even have to like accordion to enjoy watching those two kids having a really good time.

Thanks Bill. The girl has such a natural talent and more importantly, those kids are having such fun. You can tell that they love music.

I supose you folks outside of Texas don't hear much of this style of music. It's called "conjunto" music. It's heard all over the state but it's most notable preformers come the Rio Grande, San Antonio, up the the Hill Country. It's a unique sound that is associated with Texas.  Conjunto has evolved intoTejano music, but conjunto music in it's orignal form is still very popular here in the Lone Star State.

I met him a few years ago at a convention. We spoke 10-15 minutes. I remember his answer when I asked him how he got so good at such a young age? His reply: play every day, play all day, play when you're tired, play through your mistakes, play when you just plain "don't want to play!"

Then you've got to remember..........he's a natural at it!

BTW: He's a very humble and nice guy. I like him!
