Now that I'm using powered speakers I'm thinking that in some cases I may need a powered monitor. What I'm thinking of is using a Roland CM30 as a combo monitor and mixer. Plug everything into the CM30 then out to the JBL 515s. I understand theat when you plug somthing into the stereo link outputs it cuts off the Cm30s speaker. Stupid idea ! A way around that is to use the headphone output with a splitter cable with a stereo plug to two mono outputs. Anyone have any expierence with anything similiar ?

I haven't used monitors in years. If I ever get in a situation where I can't hear myself, I just plug some earbuds into the headphone output. They are nearly invisible to the audience.

I agree Donny but when I do those mixed gigs, keyboard and DJ, when I get to the DJ part I really don't want to be in line with one of my main speakers. Just need the monitor for the "live" part. Used to use my Peavey Impulse like that. It plugged into one of the main speakers and when I went to the DJ stuff I'd just turn it face down. I've heard those songs already !! Thinking the powered one I could turn the volume down in a similiar situation.

Bill, I have a powered hotspot that's very powerful and clean. 2 channels, 3 band EQ. Don't need it anymore cuz I got the TC FX150 as a rebate gift when I bought my VoiceLive3. You can have it WITH 2 satellite hot spots for $150. It's an awesome little PA in itself, or a great 3 zone monitor for other situations.

Dave
Thanks but I'm leaning toward the Roland just for the Stereo link and Stereo output possiblities. Seems like I gotta check the forum more often. Looks like Shuey is all over it so let it go.
