Crybaby...

You dont even know how many files are in each package..... So you can not make comments on the price... I think if there are ten styles in a pakkage and they are all very usable it might be worth the money... And if there are 20 styles in a package it will be a top buy

And offcourse the one style restriction is only for T5 players that dont have the memory expansion...
Sadly Yamaha decided to pit them up in the shop withouth a package description...

BOO HOO!
I guess I'm spoiled by Korg and Ketron who periodically give us free styles! But you are right, if they are all useful and there are enough of them, it could be well worthwhile.
I don't have a dog in this fight anyway since I am currently in a Yamaha-free zone.

A guy on psr forum bought one pack and it has I think 7 styles, which is not bad for the price if they are good of course. Down side is you can only load one pack since Yamaha was smart enough to only have 124mb (wow) . Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and thinking outside the box.Very dissapointing for a flagship keyboard.I could understand this on s950, but not on T5.Yamaha should really rethink audio styles concept.

I'm curious about the "Semantics" of loading only one at a time - it's only possible now to load (and use/play) one Style at a time ... or do they really mean you can only put one onto the keyboard? I'd assume you could 'store' them all on your Hard Drive, then load (for playing) one style, like we do now ???

Jim, because of their size, and the keyboard's limited, RAM memory, you can only load one of these files into the onboard memory at a time.

I'm not a 'Yammie' so I am asking this out of ignorance (I do that a lot confused1 ) ... Can you preview samples of the styles before dropping $44 for them and THEN finding out if you can use them?

http://www.yamahamusicsoft.com/en/category/Style+Files/catalog

and also with a Yammy you can just load a style via USB play it off the thumbdrive first and try it easily vs KORG and their ridiculous tedious file SET OS system to load styles to try Grrrrrr!

Common Tony you know you want one....... cool2
come on over to the Yammy side & see what you've been missing ... keys

Over at the Korg forums, they pretty much agree that the T5 needs a new updated OS...

its what you want and are used to

Somebody on the German forum bought the Swing and world pack.
You can load one pack at a time into the KB and then of course one style.

After all this time this is what Yamaha came up with as a solution for audio styles.Wow.You can have only 8-9 audio styles, and that's it.You would think they would come up with something better, so they can sell more styles. What a dumb idea Yamaha...At the beginning I thought it was a joke.

I hope they learned and drop the whole audio style thing on future arrangers and spend the R&D money on improving the navigational features on the KB Big Time..I hope they are reading this.

That's why I stayed with the Tyros4.

Yes, the audio styles sound great (and this also applies to the S950), but they are severely crippled in regards to editing and other functions.

They are essentially preset styles.

DNJ that's true. The whole audio style concept is supid, at least it's stupid the way Yamaha does it. You can add only 9 new audio styles in total.Big deal Yamaha.
I would rather see new drums expansion and nice software as a drum editor. It's nice when you fix old styles with new drums.Korg has it their PA, even Roland has it too.If Yamaha players new how easy is to fix styles with individual elements they would love this feature. It brings styles to life. You change different snare, or tune it, you add ambiance to drums. This way styles sound as good as audio styles, of course with better drum kits too.

Certainly there's nothing wrong with the sound quality of the audio drum based styles...they sound very good indeed.

The issue Mirza and myself have with them is the way they have been implemented, and I also personally feel the styles themselves should have been made more editable and offer more storage options.

These issues also apply to the S950, which has similar audio based drum styles.

Again, this is not a criticism on how the styles sound...just their execution.

More kits would have been nice and probably a better idea.

I still can't believe Yamaha is going this way with audio styles. Why even bother with audio styles if you can only add 9 new styles.I was going to get all 4 packs, but luckily I read that only one pack can load at one time. The whole concept is backward.124 mb for audio drums is just a waste.First you load them in ram, then when you select one of the audio styles it loads again somewhere. Yamaha really didn't think this through with T5.

I notice in Bachus's thread about the new CVP series that audio based drum styles are not mentioned in the specs.

http://www.synthzone.com/forum/ubbthread..._a_d#Post394542

There were no audio drum based styles on the CVP-609 either, in spite of the fact that CVP often shares some features with the high end PSR-S*** series which are released around or near the same time.

So, the mid-level PSR-S950 gets audio drum based styles, while the TOTL CVP-609 does not?

As we say in Canada, "Weird, eh?"

Let's hope they learn something....as for me, I'm not really overly concerned. I have no interest in the Tyros5 as I'm very content with my Tyros4....amazingly, I'm still on the honeymoon with it after all this time.

I doubt if they'll ever use a TC Helicon (as that is tied in with Korg), but they may use something from another company.

More importantly, I hope for Yamaha's sake they get this audio style thing sorted out before they move on to the Tyros6 or the PSR-S960.

It's very difficult for a company as huge as Yamaha to change direction quickly...they are like one of those big Container Ships that take all kinds of room to turn around or to come to a stop.

Aaah,

Now everyone knows why Ketron streams theirs from the HD. They were severely critisized for doing it this way initially, but now it all starts to make sense.

Well done Ketron. You were indeed lightyears ahead of the res!

cheers,

I just listened to the Dance pack... all the styles in this pack are simply just the ones that are in the PSR S950 that were left out of the T5... so nothing really new..

You mean Yamaha is actually making customers pay to receive styles that were included on a lower model? Why does this not surprise me?
