Gary I have 2 Netflix account, CD & Streaming, wink I love the Netflix EXCLUSIVE movies & shows, series, you can watch on your PC, Cell Phone or anywhere there's a computer via your account...........many times I get to a gig early so I sit in my car and watch a movie great time killer.. cool2
the Roku is awesome also ...some of my my friends have it...
also many people today are cancelling their monthly $$expensive$$ cable TV accounts and Only using devices like Roku, Netflix for TV....

I also have Google Chromecast which lets you send and signal from your PC movies, etc,. to any TV in the house !!

I tried chromecast here, but it didn't work smoothly - just a jittery picture most of the time. Sent it back. Though it would be neat for watching TV and movies, but it just didn't work, and they couldn't make it work for me.

I cancelled my cable well over 10 years ago, and rely on my PC for all work and entertainment (I got the biggest screen available).

Of course, I have a Sony PlayStation II that I really enjoy, and along with my Tyros4, I'm never bored.

Cable is steadily losing its popularity, at least in my age group.

CC works fine here it all depends on your HDMi and how your computer handles it............

My cable bill here in western MN runs close to $126 a month...50% of that is internet.

I've tried going without the TV part many times(would save $60 a month) but I like what I get.

Also, I've compared my TV/Internet/cell phone bill to what I pay in taxes(federal, state, local) and various insurances like medicare, medicare supplements, car insurance and you name it. Taxes(MN land of 10,0000 taxes) and insurance here in MN account
for close to half of my expenses in retirement.

Guess what?

The money I spend on TV, musical toys and other fun stuff are a lot less than half my expenses...and I actually enjoy what I get.

I've got more...but the rant is over.

smile

The media part of my bill is pretty small compared to taxes/insurance...and I actually know what I'm getting for the money I spend.

In 1975, I taught in London, England.

Gas was the equivalent of $3+ a gallon then, rent was high, taxes on folks making minimum wage was 50%+..considering all taxes.

Folks there had started to give up...back in 1975...figuring they couldn't get ahead. They would tell me you Yanks are so smug...in a few years you will be in the same place we are.

I told them, USofA...no way

Guess who was right?

I figure we pay about 65-percent of our total, net income in taxes here in the U.S.. Maybe more here in the People's Republic of Maryland - probably a lot more. frown
