I made a backup off a Secure digital card...was no problem...
I took 30 minutes to back-up a sd card off 64 mb. The card was only for 50% full.
Is it not possible to update a back-up.
It was possible with hd techmanager but is it possible with the kn7000.
Thanks Alec

no incremental backup but I am investigating the merge function at the moment.

I made a new back-up off the same Sd card but now with the card in the sd card reader.
In five minutes the job was done.
So much faster than when the sd card is in the kn7000.
There is also a function merge.
This is to join two backups.

I did not even try backing up from the 7000 because the card reader was much faster, even large cards backup in minutes.

if you have 2 cards both with files in folder 01, and you perform a merge operation, both sets of information will be copied to a new backup, but the second set of files now to folder 02, for example.

Many thanks to this thread. I just tried a back up from the SD card reader/writer of a 128Mb card (20% full) and was absolutely amazed when the 'completed' window came up in less than 2 minutes. I had previously backed up from the KN and that took 47 minutes.
Alec: why such a vast difference?

the clue might be in the led. Watch the 7000 SD in use - it flashes every couple of seconds, maybe each file has to pass through the loading bus on its way out to the usb? Watch the card reader led - it flashes so fast it looks to be on permanently. The data is obviously moved in a single block with the card reader, its driver is direct ide compatible. Maybe the 7000 transfer has to go through another driver, or modified driver, for instance the midi data drivers might be slower?

Thanks for that. I also backed up the 8Mb sd card that had KN files and an audio file on it. However, when I used restore the KN files were restored but not the audio - Any ideas??

audio is encrypted on the SD card - therefore not possible to backup or restore audio, otherwise it would get round the encryption. You must check in and out audio through jukebox separately.
