Finally got to see the specialist on Friday, who confirmed a significant tear, and pretty advanced arthritis in the shoulder.

He shot me with steroids and put me on a 60 day home therapy program. After that, he'll try one more session of injections and therapy for another 4 weeks. The decision will be made then on the question of surgery.

He says I'm right on the line now.

I guess I'll keep on "keepin on". The injections haven't given me any relief so far.

Hey, you’re a bit too young to have that problem. I hope the healing comes quickly.

I have the same problem so I can feel your pain.

Russ, it can takes weeks before you see any relief at all. At least you have a doctor that is not cut happy. Some of the orthopedic surgeons in this part of the world would be bidding on who gets to cut you first. When I tore mine, three orthopedic surgeons wanted to slice me open, said it was the only cure. I told them to go to Hell, walked out the door and allowed the tear to heal on it's own, which it did, but it took several months. Now, a decade later, no problems other than osteoarthritis, which at 74 you're gonna have it whether you want it or not. Home therapy, at least for me, was very successful after the pain began to subside. The pain lasted for about three months, though.

Good luck,

Gary cool

I tore mine pitching baseball in about 1961. It still hurts when I throw a baseball. Dr. said don't throw baseballs.

Good luck with healing, Russ:

Glad to hear your Doc is not a "knife man." It won't get well overnight and I hope you are better at an exercise regimin than me. Patience and persistence will get you through... hopefully without surgery.

All the best,

Dave Rice
