I received a call from Joe this evening, he sounded very good for a change.
Joe was a bit excited because for the first time in more than a month he was able to stand. Apparently, an outside physical therapy person was brought in, and he told Joe that it was time to get on the road to recovery. He was able to get Joe out of bed, and Joe was elated. We talked about several things after this, and he was hoping that this would be the first step on the road to recovery.
Joe was initially scheduled for barriatric surgery in early January, but because he has successfully lost nearly 100 pounds, the surgery is out of the question. Now, it's a matter of lifestyle changes, diet and exercise. Additionally, he's in the process of moving to Baltimore's Inner Harbor from his home out in the country. This mammoth chore has fallen on the shoulders of his wife, Homer, who is an incredible person to say the least.
With any kind of luck, Joe will be back to his new abode within a week or two at most.
