... and now we know the REST of the story ...

Good for him ...
Funny but while watching him I felt he had JLL's 'attitude' ... also saw something that said he has only been playing piano for 5 years ...

I've known a guy named Jason D. Williams since he was a kid. His mom worked in the bank in El Dorado, AR. where I lived.
He later did the sound track for the movie about Jerry Lee.

There's another guy here, Brandy Roberts, who is just about as good, but he has found out that there is already a Jerry Lee Lewis. He works in Branson a lot, but no big-time stuff.

"Too much talent" should be changed to "not enough talent!"

This kid is an embarrassment to both himself and the music industry. What’s he doing? He’s playing that same left hand lick through the whole piece. And his right hand “licks” leave a lot to be desired. His finger technique is incorrect. A good keyboard player will curve his fingers and be able to use any finger without changing his hand position.......and without moving the other fingers. This wannabe is banging away at the keyboard.......that’s all he’s doing! It’s a shame how much the bar has been lowered.

And I couldn’t let the affront to Jerry Lee Lewis go by. There is only ONE Jerry Lee Lewis and that’s the "killer" himself....Jerry Lee Lewis. I’ve studied him, his music, his style, his performances, etc ever since I first heard “Whole Lotta Shakin’ way back when.

To me, he has it all. A good singing voice, good chops, and a real, genuine flair for what he does. He sings and plays from the heart. I mean, the man was gifted for playing R&R blues piano.

Don remarked about Jason D. Wiliams: “He later did the sound track for the movie about Jerry Lee.” But, I could tell the difference between both in a heartbeat. Jerry Lee actually recorded the music. Jason's hands only were used in the film, not his music.

Jerry Lee Lewis trivia

Now, I watched Jason’s video and listened to about a dozen of his recordings. He’s an excellent showman, I'll give him that. But he couldn’t hold a candle to JLL when the king was in his prime. And again, I don’t hear any great right hand licks like you’ll hear in any JLL song. He just seems to hammer away forever with those eighth notes that is a JLL trademark but only as a platform for those great piano “runs” that follow.

Sorry for the negative review, but I'm a huge Jerry Lee Lewis fan and I feel he is the most unrecognized, underrated Rock 'n Roll pianist/vocalist on the scene. Who knows where he would have been today had he not married his 13 year old cousin, which ended his career almost overnight!

This, by the way, is what I call great keyboard “playing".....Brian Auger doing “Listen Here.”

Brian Auger playing Listen Here

Then there’s Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, Johnny Johnson, Jon Lord (Deep Purple band), Ray Manzarek of The Doors, etc. If they were around today, you’d have a multitude of “benchmarks” you could use to determine “good” and “not so good” players.

Unfortunately, you'll never hear keyboard players like that again!
