Having visited Italy several times when I was young, I thought I would pass this along to everyone.

10 Reasons...

Gary,

Great video. Today Thansgiving we spent it with my Italian side of the family. There were 15 of us and the menu is below much of it what was shown in the video:

Antipasto with Prisciutto aka Italian Ham, Provlone Cheese, Salamai, Pepperoni, Capicola and Anchovies loaves of fresh Italian bread from Buono's Bakery (TonyMads knows that bakery and it great brick over made hard crusty bread)
Italian Wedding Soup
Homemade Lasagna and meatballs made from veal, beef and pork.
Turkey, Ham and All the fixings
Italian Pastry and Espresso, Wine for those that drink and the traditional Pumpkin and Apple Pie.

Maybe some pizza tomorrow, just not today!

I do lots of work for an Italian company; Fontanot. They make staircase kits sold thru places like Home Depot.

Don't know where they're located. All work comes thru the US based headquarters in Atlanta.

I am making a trip with the agent sometime in 2015.

One of the highlights of our 1 month stay in ITALY last year was "The Three Kings Tour" - a visit to farm where they made parmigiano reggiano; another farm where they made prosciutto; and a vineyard where they made Balsamic vinegar; topped off by lunch featuring all the items ...

I can't wait to go back ...

I haven't visited Italy in more than 50 years, but while I was there I had a ball. I also went to Sicily, and our ship passed through the straits of Messina, traveling beneath a massive cable that stretches from Italy to Sicily. If I recall, that cable was 6-feet or more in diameter and had a walkway across the top of it. It was a high-voltage electric cable that I believe was eventually removed because it was no longer needed. Apparently, back in the late 1950s, when I was there, all of Sicily's electrical power came from Italy. The cities I visited included: Naples, Genoa, Portafino, Rome, and a few others that I can no longer remember the names of.

Cheers,

Gary cool

I've had the pleasure of visiting Italy in 1969, 1971, 1977, 1991, and 2011. For two of those times ('69 & '77), I actually lived there for a total of about 3 years. My father emigrated to Canada in 1955, and my mother in 1960. They married in 1960, and I was born in 1961. My mother tongue is Italian, so I did not have any problems speaking the language.

I can tell you that Italy today is not the same as it was in the 60s and '70s. However, geographically, it's still an incredibly beautiful place to visit. I particularly loved the Alps in Aosta (Northwestern part of Italy), lake Como, the Cinque Terre (literally translated, "Five Lands", near Portofino), and many other places.

If you get a chance to go, do so!

Hi Gary:

Thanks for sharing that film clip. Like the others, it certainly creates the "Pavlov" effect with me. I have never had the opportunity to set foot in Italy but have flown it's entire length on a clear day back in the 80's. Obviously, a truly remarkable place. Food, Art, Architecture and so much more.

Enjoyed this,

Dave
