As I briefly noted before in another thread, one of the most famous German-language singers and songwriters of the past 40 years, Udo Juergens, died very suddenly in the age of 80 shortly before Christmas - just 2 months after a big TV celebration of his birthday. A true legend. He grew up in Carinthia, Austria, and was famous since he won the Grand Prix d'Eurovision in the 1960s. This is a video of a medley of some of his older hits he presented only a few weeks or months before his death. Maybe some of you have heard some songs even if they are German. They are certainly to be found in some 'music assistants' of arrangers. Udo Juergens was somehow unique in not only singing and composing 'Schlager' (hits), but also addressing serious social topics with his songs. It is also nice that he always had a bigband to accompany him. http://youtu.be/3r8zwb1eF1U
