Roy loved to sing in F and Kris wrote this in that key. I recorded this on my 750 as I am still experimenting with its capabilities. Also created some Orbison Echo on my Digitech. Hope this works!

Don ... as usual, that's a nice job ... I like the vocal effect ...
Interesting that this song was written in 'F', because the lead sheet I got from a 'Pop music' fake book is in 'D', which is the key I sing it in ...

Hi Don and Tony

I've absolutely no chance in "F" or "D" I'm going down to "C".

Why not all have a go, it would be nice just to hear different approach's to the same song.

Wish I could reach the dizzy height's like you Don.

In order for me to hit notes that high, I have to utilize a pair of vice grip pliers, clamp them tightly on my undershorts, and twist very hard. I do this song in A.

Good job, Don,

Hey Gary,

Thanks for the vocal tips. If that vice grip/twisting shorts trick works for me maybe I'll be able to hit some of Roy's highest notes.

God Bless,
Don

P.S. You home now? Back any better?

The back still hurts, but seems to be slowly getting better.

Thanks Don,

Tony,

The fake book I learned it from had it in F so that's where I learned it. In my guitar/beatbox days I would end the song..........
"help me make it through the night"........"and don't look so sad. I know it's over."

which was the lead in for Kristoferson's "For The Good Times" also in F. Those two songs segue very nicely.

God Bless,
Don

Colin,

Sometimes just thinking about those heights makes me dizzy. When I was younger I used to be able to hit "some" of Roy's high notes but my voice had to be in tip top shape. Kind of stressful when you get a request and you're a little under the weather. Once sang "Pretty Woman" with a very sore throat. Probably the worst rendition I ever did. When I was finished the guy who requested it told me it was great. I could have punched him. Damn fool!

God Bless,
Don

Here's mine, but due to a bad sinus situation, I did it in 'C' also ...

https://app.box.com/s/oi6phqemjh8lkoodt88y4027vdjid65j

Funny story about "For the Good Times" ... I was playing a gig and a woman asked me to play 'Burning Bridges' ... I told her sorry, but I have no idea what song that was ... later I'm singin "For the Good Times" and sing the line ' ... no need to watch the bridges that are burning' ... and she runs up and says "that's it ... that's BURNING BRIDGES" ... dancers laugh2

Tony

I think that when you sing in a lower key your voice to me sounds bigger and more comfortable, I enjoyed that but I tell you it's not an easy song to sing. Now we just need some more contributor's. Liven the place up.

Tony, I'll record it tomorrow afternoon when I bring the keyboard in from the van. I need to clean it up from the trip down south.

I record directly to the PSR-S950 now, which does a pretty darned good job, IMO.

I used to record using the Zoom H2, which required a fair amount of fine tuning adjustments of the keyboard's output to get similar quality. The S-950 sure has made life a lot easier for me.

That's what I am experimenting with lately. Straight off the PSR S750's Audio Recorder. I have to determine if I get the quality I'm used to with my Roland Digital Recorder.

Don, it sounds great to me, as usual!

You sure you want to hear my version?

Sometimes I do it this way:

Rip the buttons from my shirt.
Tear it off and throw it down.
I don't want to sleep alone,
And you're the only one around.

Come and lay down on your back,
While we make it through the night.
Then roll over on your face,
So I won't see it in the light!

I don't care if you're old and fat,
And have ratty, stringy hair.
I'll be gone tomorrow morning,
And tonight I'm too dang drunk to care!

Yesterday is up and gone,
And tomorrow I will be too.
And yes it's sad to be alone,
BUT IT'S BETTER THAN WAKING UP WITH YOU!

I'll bet you thought it was going to be nasty didn't you? smile
Just be sure there are no old fat women with ratty stringy hair in the audience when you do it.

Don,

Years ago I used to get crazy like that but not any more. Even so it did make me laugh. It also made me sad for all the fat ratty haired women who can't get no SATISFACTION.

Thanks for listening,
Don

Here's the Burning Bridges I know. Excuse the crackly voice and mistakes. I must have been sober the night I recorded this.
