Hi folks.

Looks like we have a few members that are interested in loosing a few pounds and staying healthy. A few members have started various fitness goals already.

How about stating your fitness goals, and checking in regularly to make sure you are staying motivated and informing us of your progress.

My goals are:

Exercise at least 30 minutes per day
Drink 8 glasses of water.
Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
20% weight loss.

Summers coming,

Jerryghr

Calculate your Body Mass Index.

Check to see how you rate in the table.

It a general tool to gage our weight and does have limitations.

I need to lose about 30 pounds right now, which I should be able to do in about 3 months of South Beach Diet. The last time I went on the south beach diet I dropped 55 pounds in just 5 months and kept it off for many years. Then I discovered green coconut Margarettas - whoops! I slowly but sure gained weight until I'm at my present weight, 215-pounds. The docs all said they would like to see me at 180 to 185, which I'm confident I can do in the time frame I've allotted.

All the best,

Gary cool

I'm right behind you Gary. I would like to lose 20 lbs.

I did the South Beach Diet a few years ago and hit my target. It was the easiest to follow, I enjoyed the selections, and it works. The only thing I missed was eating fruit. Did not have any sugar cravings after starting it, and enjoyed eating the pistachios for the afternoon snack. I still eat them everyday. Walmart has Cajun and garlic flavor.

I felt great and it prevented my occasional occurrences of heartburn.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I'm going to the Olive Garden for a late lunch for the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks. Have a $5 coupon. (you know how us seniors love our discounts)
One bowl of soup, plenty of salad and no breadsticks.

Hopefully a few more members will chime in with their health style changes.

As my doctor advised when I asked for a diet recommendation, "If it tastes good, spit it out". Works.

Chas, isn't that one of McDonald's slogans? ?
"If it tastes good, it's not McDonald's".

And if there were any justice in the world carrots would have 1000 calories per
stick, Ben & Jerry's and/or Green Coconut Margaritas would have ZERO calories per pint eaten or drunk.

Just eat one jelly bean eight times a day on an empty stomach.
