I just received the July issue of Music Inc. and there is a full page ad for 3 new workstations. The PSR-S670 which we already new about and will be available right after NAMM in July and the 770 and 970 which the ad says can be preorded now for delivery later this year (it doesn't say this year but if they are showing pictures and letting us know about it now it surely will be sooner rather than later). The picture looks just like the 950 but I'm sure there must be new content.
I can see there is now a separate category for guitar and one for bass so I would think Yamaha has added many of the Tyros5 guitar sounds and perhaps the modeling of guitar amps too.
I called Yamaha to ask about this and there is no information coming from them yet. More to follow

A decent screen, full color but smaller the t5, no touch..
You can see it at the website linked above
Personally i think you are way better of with the sd7

Because all the things i really really love on the T5 are still not on the psrs970
- sa2 voices
- organ world (except for the b3 that is medicore)
- ensemble voices
- great 76 key keybed, i have grown to love it
- totall user interface
- still not compliant with T5 expansion packs

Sd7 has more to offer the s970 for sure..

since it can have up to 512MB expansion (950 had only 64MB) my guess is that it uses the same 512MB expansion ram so that perhaps you can load the tyros5 packs.

Donny, what difference does it make to you, the guy that just spent more than 3-grand on a new Ketron and trying to unload your s-950. You stated in another post that the Keytron addresses all the things you didn't like about the S-950, therefore, you're not gonna go back to Yamaha, at least for the immediate future. Fagetaboutit! wink

Good luck,

Gary cool

Gary as an Arranger KB player I'm always interested in what New weather I'm buying it or not,.....being a previous S-950 owner last two years I'd have to be honest & hoped for more new features on this S-970 release,... I wish all the new S-970 players good luck.
BTW you interested in buying the S-970 & keeping the S-950 for backup?

How common or uncommon is it for a new arranger model to look exactly like the previous model? If that’s the case with the S970 vs the S950, where’s the difference? Will it be the sound, styles, voices, features, what? And, will this difference be enough to justify the obligatory price increase that’s most likely? I’ve been trading-up each model with Yamaha. May just continue to enjoy the S950. Will wait and see.
