Simple question: anyone out there know of a drum machine/sampler/synth module that has a step sequencer that can be programmed to play odd time signatures? I know Akai MPC's can do this, but I was hoping for something cheaper. Has to be MIDI capable. Thanks for your help!

I think all of them can. If there's a possibility to change the number of steps in the sequence, which most boxes allow, then you're set.

Korg's Electribes come to mind. Boss Dr series, check out the 550 or 660, awesome value if you find them S/H. You might want to hunt down some vintage Roland boxes, these are seriously easy to use. Try the ReBirth demo and you can get your hands on a TR-808 and TR-909. With them you can specify the amount of steps in a sequence. www.propellerheads.se
