I’m not real hard on my headphones.......don’t use them that much. I had a pair of high-quality Pioneer headphones before that broke the same way as my Sony MDR-7506 just did. I don’t think I even had 30 hours on the Sony.

I heard a sputter and one side cut out…..on both sets of headphones. This Sony set I only used with my PA3x, and since I hardly play the PA3x, the phones hardly get any use.

Is this the common way headphones break?

What do I buy now that won’t break so easy and still give me an unbiased, dry sound (no coloring)?

Over the years, I’ve been looking at the.....
Audio Technica ATH-M70
the Sennheisers

Any opinions on Ultrasone and Grado?

How does one buy headphones?

Thanks,

MARK

Try AKG K44. On sale for 1/2 price in GC. Simple yet well constructed.

Probably The short sample loops of The PA-3X create a certain type of resonance strain on the headphones. (not serious...)

Just rewire the plug that is usually where breakage occurs...

I've had the same Sony for over ten years. No problems. Luck of the draw, I guess.

I never thought about "repair!" Who repairs anything these days in our "throw-away" society? I forgot the word even exists.

I'll check with my local electronic repair place.

Mark, my headphones have broken, but only after years of using them. Have you tried to using the same headphones with a different keyboard?
A little off the topic, but maybe not. I no longer use headphones – I now use a headphone. My right ear is now deaf. Sad, yeah but my left hear is working very well, good enough to sing on tune, hear my wife’s voice and tune a great piano.

Life is good, John C.
