The 5.83 version has been out a few months now and it’s important to keep the Signature file up to date. Version shows in the bottom left corner. The current version is, 042-24.09.2002. This can be downloaded from,

Good advice Walter - I scanned my laptop using an older Signature file and deleted 10 reported files. After updating the Signature file, I re-scanned and found another 25!!

You can also carry out an automatic update by navigating to C:\Program Files\Lavasoft Refupdate and clicking on the 'Refupdate.exe' file. It's worthwhile having a look at the 'Read me.txt' file in this folder.

I updated to the current version that Sparky advised and still only got the same 4 cookies to delete.
I updated the signature file and got 9 more. Thanks guys.

Thanks first to Sparky for introducing me (and I think quite a few others) to adaware and to Walter for the update address, but when I downloaded the update i got a REFFILE icon in the desktop and on unzipping this another icon of same name arrived. How do I get this to update the programme? Properties show it's 38.3 KB so assume it is the full update.

Incidentally, when these cookies/spyware are removed by adaware are they actually deleted from the hard disk or placed in a "safe" place.

You could use Windows Explorer to drag the file to C/Programmes/Lavasoft, and replace the existing (old) file. I use a super free programme, Send to, any folder,

Thanks Walter! I downloaded the file and managed to scrape another 31 baddies from my HD that an earlier scan missed.
