Dan, At one time, years ago, Polk was one of the leaders in top-of-the line audio equipment. Their speaker WERE among the best. What they are like today I don't know.

If you don't need strong and deep bass and some upper bass is sufficient, I highly recommend these (once again), really powerful, very light and compact, 2 x 90W RMS continuous:
I have the Maui 11 and Maui 28. The column speaker of the Maui 11 does not split, but the Muai 5 seems to split in 3 parts, which would make it much easier to carry. Also, the Maui 5 has a built in mixer while the 11 and 28 do not. A great improvement, and the price is good in my opinion.
