The soft, old stuff he's playing sounds great, but what I really like about it is the kick-ass rock, blues and country stuff!

Offcourse.. All current arrangers are of great sound quallity...

When you buy one, you better look at.

When you buy a new one...

Video demo quality and playing was up to par with some of the TOTL arrangers, but in my opinion, only the drum parts on the SD7 sounded authentic. The rest of the voices, maybe on par with the other mid-range arranger quality.

I tried the Audya a couple of years ago, besides the drums most of the other voices sounded GM2ish when playing it. There are improvements on the SD7, but voices like the sax, brass, and strings come nowhere close to the Tyros 5 or Korg PA4X. Even the latest PA4X falls somewhere between a Tyros 4 and Tyros 5.

The SD7 drums are outstanding, but I also wasn't too thrilled with the style selection that was demoed in another video. A great mid- range keyboard, but not on par with the full featured keyboards or SA or SA2 voices like on the Yamaha.

That's exactly why I said right when it was released that it shouldn't cost more than 2000 euro in Europe, not even that much. Good observation Marcus.

You can have the same style sound quallity with a midjpro...
Or even Varranger with a Ketron SD1000...

Although I'm usually quite impressed by a lot of Ketron sounds, here I agree to Marcus, I didn't like the trumpet, sax and strings used in this demo. Maybe he could have picked a better trumpet, surely a better sax (because I liked the SD 1000 saxes a lot), but compared to several solo instruments with modeling features (SA2 / SN or the Korg equivalent), there is something missing in terms of liveliness and realism here.
The player in the video is very skilled, but on the other hand sometimes he overdoes it with the pitch bend playing the trumpet and sax, and maybe he could have picked some more appealing variants of the sounds. I remember my own SD 1000 version of Kaempfert's Swingin' Safari, that sounded a bit more realistic and some here were delighted by the sounds, so there is a potential in it, and the SD7 & MidjPro soundset should partly even go beyond that of the SD 1000.

I think some of the sounds he used were not the best choices. They were almost certainly OTS settings. I have changed almost all of the ones I use.
There are plenty of great sounds in the SD7. Not saying they are better than other companies, but certainly good enough to keep me happy and I'm pretty critical in this area.
