This, unfortunately is not one of them. Both instruments being recorded with the camera mic...along with volume discrepancies and style variations makes it difficult to distinguish any real quality of either keyboard. I personally have had the pa600 and now the 970. The Live drums and the amazing electric guitars on the 970 kick the 600 right out the door. I know the pa900 probably sounds better than the pa600...and it also has a great vocal harmonizer, but I don't think the 900 is ultimately going to stand up to the sound of the 970 (IMHO). With that said...don't allow this demo to persuade the purchase of either keyboard. This guy is a pretty good player as I've heard him on other demos. But on this demo...he ain't cutin' it. Jingleman

Jingleman You're welcome, Jingleman. I'm sorry you don't like this particular demo. It's not the best demo, I know, but there have been very few demos demonstrating both keyboards, so I thought it would be worth a look. I agree that the PA900 is no match for the new S970. Like I've always said, the best demo is when you actually go to a store and try them out yourself. _________________________ Mike

Playing individual sounds on one keyboard and then playing a similar sound on another keyboard is just not a relevant way to judge how a particular keyboard is going to sound. If that were the case...my old Kurzweil K250 would stack up pretty well. You have to hear the instrument playing in style mode or some type of ensemble mode to really hear how the instruments blend and interact together. This takes in to consideration the type of sampling used (stereo, multiple microphones, ambience, mono) to enhance the feel of a cohesive group of musicians playing together. I think it was Don M. That said a few posts back...If you want to sound good OOTB, the Yamaha PSR-S970 is the way to go. (Sorry if I butchered your post Don) Jingleman

Volume, Panning, Instrument selection, reverb, chorus and master effects seem to be the most prevalent editing features. When you had the PA900...what were the features you did't like that drove you back to Yamaha? Korg seems to have accomplished some nice features and sound quality with the PA4X. But it comes at approx. 2K more than the 970. Apples and oranges maybe... So we'll have to see what their trickle down keyboards offer. Different strokes I guess...but it I says something when you don't have to wait for a software update to accomplish what's promised in the advertising. Jingleman
