Why bang so hard on the keys......its an arranger not a piano?

Thanks for your valuable feedback, Don.
I do have a bad habit unfortunately of playing too hard on the keys sometimes.
no excuse just because i'm a big guy with heavy hands, its something i have to keep aware of (to use a softer touch ... always). I'll get so excited when I play the harder rock 'n roll styles. Its something I want to correct.
It was only a temporary situation where I had the rental instrument to put through its paces and I figured better to find out now rather than later how durable the keys are.
I really appreciate your point, however, that when I get my brand new 770 to respect the instrument to the max. Absolutely. And along those lines, by the way, what's your opinion of paying for additional years of warranty beyond the first year (included)?

I haven't had a situation where I've needed an extended warranty except once. Yamaha replaced a faulty screen on PSRS900 well after the warranty was up. In fact I think they are STILL doing that.
My experience has been that, if something is going wrong, you will find it right away.
With that said, there are places, such as Sweetwater Sound, that offer a free extra year if you purchase from them.
As a rule, extended warranties are a big money maker for the seller!
Then again, I generally don't keep keyboards long enough for it to be a factor. smile

Thank you, Don. Wish me luck at the music store. I really don't know how much its going to cost in Canadian dollars but they said they'll apply 60% of the 160 plus tax it cost to rent the 770 for two months.
that should help.
i'm guessing around 1600 Canadian or 1700 then about hopefully a $300 discount the take off some more for the rental credit. The wife may come together with me to the music retailer . . . so her "pleading" may contribute?

It's easy to get 10-12 percent off MSRP in the states.
