JohnnyB and all. Yes, it was incredible to finally chat (LIVE) with you via Skype yesterday, and as Johnny said, the signal was absoultely AMAZING . . . no echo, delay, or dropouts whatsoever. It truly felt like we were in the same room, even though it was 1/2 way around the world: UK-California. In addition, I also spoke with Bob & Sue Riffle (FL) today (on Skpe) and they having been skeptical about both Skype quality as well as my enthusiasm about my MusicPad Pro as well, have now joined in with their enthusiasm about Skype, and (like Johnny Barr) have purchased a MusicPad Pro unit as well. Admittedly, the MusicPad Pro is priceier than I'd prefer, but there really is NO EQUAL match to it's features via a regular laptop PC or any other device. I continue to be very satisfied with my MusicPad Pro, and only wished I had discovered it sooner.
In addition to Technics forum members John/Sue and Johnny, I've also had the pleasure of chatting with TEchnics forum member Elizabeth Evelyn. After several futile attempts & PC setting re-adjustments, we too had a succesful conversation on Skype, the signal not as clear as with the others.I suspect even though she has a hi-speed connection, because it is wireless Wi-Fi , this may have affected the signal quality.
In the meantime,I just tried out free internet audio telephone call to a friend in Brazil via MSN Messenger's new version 7, and impressed with the signal (both audio & simultaneous webcam). Great sound quality & no noticeable delay (when both parties have a hi speed internet connection), but best of all, with the addition of LIVE webcam (of which Skpe doesn't include).
Ok, I encourage others (especially those with a hi-speed internet connection) to contact fellow SZ members on Skype or MSN Messenger 7. It's the opportunity of a lifetime to further develop friendships and make music with fellow SZ members.
