I tried every configuration I could think of, and couldn't get used to it. I tried it first without the sub and it was totally unacceptable to me. I then added a sub and it sounded much better, but still not good onstage.
Also, by adding a sub, that's more expense, more stuff to move and hook up, and the sub weighed more than the main unit.
When I asked people how it sounded they said great, but then the first night that I brought the two Compacts back, they said, oh that sounds much better than last night.

I play 3-5 venues a week and the genre varies as the majority of us do. Mondays is band day with about 15 other guys doing a senior dance-30's to 80's type stuff. I carry the whole band playing whatever is not solo'd plus a solo of my own on every song, normally 16. The room is about 40x70 and fairly live. I include vocals and the sound is great

I do all the large dinners with S970, mixer, and SS. The room is twice as large with 450 people all buzzing and laughing-The Space Station is plenty loud at 1/2 with mixer and kb at 1:00.

Wed is my Karaoke show with sometimes heavy bass ans rock. The vocals and playback of CD&G disks is great.

As far as bass is concerned, it is certainly ample without a sub(I have two) for me. Aspen(the inventor) explains that is a patented innovation, and you can't go by raw specs(8"woofer).

I require a good solid bass that I sometimes modify somewhat with the mixer. However, this is not chest thumping, ear bleeding bass, as in heavy metal.

In all the years I have been here, I have never entered pissing contests or give false or even premature information.

It might not be for Don and Donny, but it sure has been great for me.

I also own the space station . I don't use a sub . The unit sounds great to me and every venue I have played in , it sounds brilliant . But it's not for everyone . Folks will just have to try it and see if it suits .

So many people love it, it has to sound really good. Just wasn't for me! I'm glad there are so many great choices.

You still using that Nano 300?

Not really. Just when I need to set up two places at the same time. Don't really need it though.

What is your main PA?

Two Bose L1 Compacts. I MUST, absolutely, positively, no-arguments, have stereo.
The Nanos supply stereo as well, but are slightly more fiddly to set up, tear down and transport.
Not sure which sound I prefer. Nano has warmer sound with better bass, but Compacts cover the rooms better. Depends on your needs and preferences; there are so many great choices.

I haven't used the Nano in some time...primarily because it is more fiddley. But it does have a nice warm sound. I'll probably be using the Nano this week.

The Compacts are hard to beat. Easy to set up, light and no EQ fiddling. Coverage is excellent.

I've been using a Bose L1 in some form or other for close to 10 years now. They really are hard to beat.
