I'm not sure if many know about this website, because it's in German, but I've been using it for a few years. They review many different keyboards (including the Kurzweil PC3 series and Roland's Integra-7. They give a rating for each from 1 to 5 stars.

If you want to read it in English, simply translate it on Google Translate, or click on Translate when you Google the website. I post this to allow you to hear actual recordings of the keyboards' sounds and styles. If someone is considering both the Korg and Yamaha, this might help them decide.

It took me a while to figure out how to do this, but here's the English version for those who not only want to hear the sounds, but also read the review: http://www.bonedo.de/artikel/einzelansicht/korg-pa4x-76-international-test.html

Well, it seems that the link above with translation does not work. Sorry. frown

I guess you'll just have to "cut and paste" the German text and get it translated on Google Translate.

The Bonedo reviews vary extremely, depending on the different authors. IMO the Integra review was ridiculous, giving 3 of 5 stars, in contrast to many other magazines that rated it much better. But as it was the first Integra review, many believed it and didn't buy it first, meanwhile the value of the Integra is widely appreciated (e.g.: 27 customer reviews at Thomann, mostly 5 stars) ...

Rosetree, I also noticed that their rating system is not consistent. For example, the Kurzweil PC3 series are essentially the same in sounds and features, yet depending on who did the review, they got different ratings (PC3K6 vs PC3K8). Weird.

As far as the Integra-7 goes, I too, found the rating low.

So ?..............the mistake remains the same.........and so does the answer, but feel free to communicate on this privately and in Dutch and not burden the musicians here any longer with our linguistic dispute. Should not have started it , I apoloigize to the others.

John

If we start critiquing the grammar in these posts, Nigel is going to need a lot more bandwidth. I think it's remarkable that so many of our international members are as fluent as they are in a second language, in this case, English. That's something that will probably never be said about the average native born American. Just read (and cringe) some of the posts from some of our most prolific posters. The one that annoys me the most is using "your" for "you're", as in "your very welcome". My grammar isn't always perfect, but some things are just plain insulting to the ear.

I applaud those members who are able to communicate effectively and contribute on a forum that is not in their native language. Bye yall, or is it y'al, or ya'll, or......

... you all ... wink

I am also impressed with the ability of people from other countries to communicate in English on this forum ... but then , to my knowledge it is becoming mandatory second language in many (most?) foreign countries ... and perhaps BECAUSE people learn it as a second language, they learn to use it more correctly than some US citizens learn it here ...

The main problem is that there is more than one English language with the 2 most common being English UK (Proper English) & English US (A mash up of proper English), with many other variations in other English speaking countries, so it’s hardly surprising it causes problems.

In Linguistics, the emphasis has shifted away from a normative, prescriptive approach about what correct language is, towards a descriptive approach just observing how most people use it in daily life. So, former "rules" of grammar professors who stated things like "The verb love cannot be used in the present continuous form (am loving)" have become obsolete...
To me, this forum is a very good resource to observe English expressions etc. as used by native speakers. Actually I've thought about starting an English language thread in the Bar as I've sometimes wanted to ask about how you feel about certain choices of words etc.
