A pair of AKai RPM800 monitors from AMS for (wait for it!) $99.95/ea. AMS's version of MF's SDOTD, I guess. Didn't really need them as I already have two different sets of quality powered studio monitors and 2 sets of passive studio monitors, BUT....one can never have too many studio monitors - especially at this price. They have good reviews (for the price) although I don't expect them to sound like my Adams'. They arrive tomorrow; can't wait to see what they sound like. Build quality seems solid and they look good (at least in the pictures). I'll let you know if I got a good deal or not. Not very exciting, but what the heck, at least it's a new toy (that I didn't have to mortgage the house for).

OMG! Just got the Akai's (RPM800) and I am flabbergasted. These are truly the best looking and best built studio monitors I've ever seen. Just now plugged them in and they also sound fantastic (after rolling off a little HF). The mids are very good, not fabulous but very good. Bass is tight with no signs of boominess. They are dead quiet and came beautifully packaged. I cannot believe I got these things for 99.95/ea. They truly look and feel better than my 1100.00 monitors. I am truly happy. Now to figure out what to do with them smile.

You guys, you guys. Wait until I cash that 1.5B PB check; it'll be monitors for everybody (ankle monitors for some of you).
