Fingers crossed Donny, it only weighs in at 10.8 Kgs so it won't break my back. 800w max, 200w RMS, 120 SPL, it should have plenty of power for my jobs.

Just imagine where the world of sound systems would be if Bose had not introduced vertical array systems to musicians. We would still be lugging around 100-pound speakers on refrigerator dollies and transporting our gear in full size vans. Additionally, it was Bose that introduced high-impact housings, replacing traditional composition board, and later dense plywood cases. It was Bose that introduced space-age speakers that were a fraction of the size, yet provided incredibly crisp, clear sounds that are superior to anything we worked with in the past. It was Bose that introduced pulse modulation into their sound systems that changed the way sounds disperse, a transition that swept away conventional sound system 45-degree coverage to a whopping 210 degree coverage, and with essentially no fall-off.

To me, it appears as other manufacturers are playing catchup and trying to imitate Bose by copying and introducing similar sound systems at a lower price. Bose Killers? No, Bose imitators.

Not sure what the rationale behind them was, but back in the 60's we had vertical line array speakers. I believe Fender produced them. In the UK we had a column of four 8" speakers on either side of the stage. These were made in England by the Selmer company who also made a range of amps - plus their famous saxes.

Myself and two mates worked in the 60's as a trio and we produced our own columns with four ten inch speakers each, as you say we didn't know anything about the technology but they seem to work very well. In fact one of my mates still has the speakers in the top of his garage. We used to power them with 150w "Geloso" amp.
hi-power stuff in those days.
