Maybe interesting for Mikem and others, who are interested in symphonic sounds: I prepared an orchestral version of the "Petersburger Schlittenfahrt" the past two evenings, it's a version by ear, not identical to the original arrangement. My aim was to use nothing else but the Roland SRX 06 Complete Orchestra expansion, whose samples date back to the SR-JV expansions from 1999 and even 1993. Despite the age of the samples, I think it would be totally impossible to achieve the same degree of realism with the onboard sounds of the Yamaha MoXF without using extra flash libraries. With libraries it would probably get a bit more realistic. I recorded all parts manually playing on a Roland A300pro controller, this always sounds much more natural than computer-generated notes. Have fun with this sleigh ride from the late 19th century.

Rosetree, thank you so much! It sounds both realistic and natural! It's amazing to think that all the sounds are coming from the SRX-06! I know you usually use sounds from other libraries, but using only one source allows one to hear how good it is.
You want to make me run out and buy an Integra-7 right now!

A wish of mine for many years is Roland hiring back Eric Persing and re-recording all the SRX sounds from scratch, and putting them in a new keyboard. I think it's about time. Even though the original SRX sound good (as in the example above), imagine how much better the new would be?
Thank you very much for your comments! The good thing about the SRX 06 is: you don't even need an Integra for it, you can get a used SonicCell or XV 2020 and the expansion, and you already have its 400+ orchestral sounds and a second free slot for either SRX 04 or 10 to upgrade the strings or brass.

It would be a dream... I've hoped for a revival of that cooperation too. The SuperNatural tones as they are presently do not really represent a 2015 update of these symphonic sounds. But as an experienced member of a German forum remarked, it would probably even be much easier, and this is crazy if it's true: The SR-JV orchestral expansions were cut-down versions of Eric Persing's CD-ROMs of the same sounds in larger data size. If Roland could just take these same CD-ROMs and transfer them into new expansions of larger waveROM, they could possibly create higher-quality orchestral sounds even without having new sampling sessions.

Rosetree, I read the same thing regarding the SR-JV expansions being cut-down versions of Persing's CD-ROMS.
The idea you present of using the original CR-ROM quality to create new expansions is an interesting one. With today's keyboards having more ROM to work with, I think it would be possible. However, I would also like Roland to create brand new samples.
Yes, of course I would wish for completely new samples, too, just as I suspect Roland still need to save costs to fully recover, they are shy of booking an orchestra for sampling sessions (which they however have to do in medium term), so the other idea could be quickly implemented. I guess Persing has the licences for the CD ROMs, but maybe they could agree to use them...
