Comparing it with a Casio is an insult. I think Roland put in very mixed quality here, and as they squeezed in such a vast number of sounds, they obviously chose to compress some of them like brass, but not all.
I guess all in all it is better and more versatile than the BK-5 (and it costs much more than the BK-5), but as I said you can't compare it with the BK-9.

Casio has come a long way, mostly where piano sounds and synth sounds are concerned.

Maybe teh MZ-X which is in the same price range as the E-A7 but blows it away when it comes to functionallity will comvince soundwise. we have to hear them next to eachother to hear the difference..

I dont see hte E-A7 as a step up from the BK series, merely a replacement build in Japan instead of in Italy..

Offcourse it sounds okay, its a Roland afterall, and if you allways liked the Roland sound, there is no reason not to like the E-A7's sound

Many people on this forum consider Casio still as a toy. I know better because I am not brand biased. I don,t care if it is a Yamaha, Roland , korg or whatever brand as it sound good and does what I want I am interested in buying it. Casio has great products at the moment and many pros agree with me. Look how many pros use the Casio px-5s.

The biggest advantage of the PX-5S is his great price with its weight at only 11 kg... you get good piano action, some nice piano sounds, great organs, strings, some of the best Epiano's and a plethora of usefull synth sounds.. 256 voice polyphony and you can layer up to 14 sounds over the keyboard and have arpeggio's for all of them if you want...

On top of that 8 phrases and 8 scenes vor variations..

The PX-5S is a beast, i like it a lot even despite its uggly white color. You can not get any better at only €800

There are certainly some interesting features on the Roland E-A7 arranger...
and the price is right too.

Why 2 separate screens ? Navigation sucks on Roland arrangers IMO.
