When I open the Audio Recorder and click on the "New" icon nothing happens. I do not get the virtual tape picture on the untitled screen needed to record or play.

nothing will happen till you do step 6 in 4.30 because all you've done so far is primed it.

There is no Red Dot as mentioned in step 6. All I see is a blank dialogue box with only the bars at the top.

no recorder control buttons?... never seen that before. Try uninstalling audio recorder, reboot, and install it again?

I solved the problem regarding the Audio Recorder by re installing a driver for my Invidia video card. It works great now.
