Just watch the video, it shows what the new features like audio pads, drum pads, midi phrases can do on top of an arranger..

This is the way to go Casio, if you want to attract new customers to the arranger buiseness..

I really like Ralph Matens performance it complements a post about arranger features imposted earlier today very well...

Playing on top of tracks is very common and lets the players imagination be free to do so many other things,...everything doesn't have to be a styles with an arranger hence the name "ARRANGER" as in Arrange music in many ways,..the pads are very useful for so many things.Nice job I enjoyed it alot, very creative especially for recording & live too,... it's like an affordable workstation with style features. clap

I wonder if that drum loop is made from on board drum samples or whether its an audio loop...

That was quite interesting ... I would have liked to know what the buttons were that he was pushing, and how much was pre-recorded ...

I know this isn't really important but honestly its got to be one of the ugliest keyboards I have seen lol

The MZ2000 looks WAYY more pro than this new MX500 keyboard.

Pretty cool...especially for $1100.
The young crowd should dig it!
Not sure I understand all I saw/heard there....
But, If I wanted to dedicate $7000...here is what I would buy.
(Of course Marco does not come with)

Yamaha....

He's pretty young (at least compared to most of us)....one of the best in the world. Anyways cool to watch/listen to (as is all his other work).

I think in other country's young players are more common.

I would love to check out that Casio in person some day! Maybe Musicians Friend in Orlando will have one???

The pads have several modes, the main modes are...

Phrases ( allowing you to trigger midi phrases)
Samples ( allowing you to trigger samples and drum sounds)
-- all these can be looped and synced in tempo and follow chord changes
Chords ( allowing you to trigger chords and chord sequences for the auto arranger)

And then there is multi mode, thats the mode Ralph maten is using. In which you can assign any of the 3 above to a pad and some more functions like switching articulations (like the sa1 and sa2 buttons on tyros) or triggering midi messages, or switching effects on or of.. I.e most things you can think of that you would want to assign to a button..

This is the mode ralph is using with the buttons, multi mode, mostly triggering samples tough much like 16 Multipads

You can quickly switch between the modes by using the smaller buttons to the left of the pads

I have a different opinion of the looks of this keyboard. I actually quite like it. The multifunctional pass combined with the touchsreen adds a whole different level of controll over your performance. Now all you need to remember is what functions are hidden under what pads for each of your performances..
