I have a gig later this afternoon. I can't play one hour of Irish music by heart. So I will have to rely upon my tablet. I usually play 5 or so tunes that would fit the occasion and then other tunes. What about you? Do you play nothing but Irish tunes for the whole hour?

Played the Parade last Saturday a part of the Prairie Dogs. On a float, pulled by my son's "rat rod" 1948 truck...others a little under the sheets. You don't want to know the rest.

Played a reception for the city this afternoon and will play my regular gig at a country club. Staff wears green, but that's about it.

When we had the band in NY we would play about 8 St. Patrick's Day dinner dances in a two weekend period ... I have NEVER liked corned beef and cabbage and sometimes the aroma REALLY bothered me ... I couldn't wait for St. Patrick's day to pass ...
I did enjoy the bagpipes and the step dancers though ... I didn't have one this year and don't mind ...

No time to gig. I'm WORKING tonight. smile
I have green glasses with orange lights that flash. I will do Rose Colored Glasses, but sing it in Irish.
If I smell cabbage I will leave. I will play Danny Boy and Irish Eyes. That's all I know in Irish.
Maybe McNamara's Band...

Well, that's 'over THERE' ... 'over HERE' there's only about 3 - 4 a week ... grin

Seriously, the three biggest Italian Feast Days that I know of are St. Joseph, San Gennaro, and "Our Lady of Mt. Carmel" ... now that is not to say there aren't many others celebrated over here, especially in towns or cities where Italians from a certain area of Italy have settled, and may have a devotion to a particular Saint ...

Just a FRIENDLY REMINDER!!! I LOVE ALL my Irish Peeps, BUT, Yes, Saint Patrick was Italian by heritage. His parents, Calphurnius and Conchessa, were ROMAN (ITALIAN) citizens living in Britain, most likely Scotland. Calpurnius, Patrick's father, was a high ROMAN diplomat living in England, but a ROMAN citizen. His area was captured at one point by the Irish and he was forced into slavery. At 21 years old, he escaped slavery. He make it back to Rome to find that most of the Roman empire had been lost. After some time he felt that God was calling him back to Ireland. He spent 10 years in France studying religion when the Pope (Celestine) made him a Bishop. He later became known as the patron saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated every March 17.

I'd NEVER do Conlee songs (UGH!), but would pay dearly to hear Don do them, because he's my HERO!

JC did some great songs. Miss Emily's Picture, She Can't Say That Anymore, Friday Night Blues, Back Side of Thirty, Common Man, Old School, Busted, Before I Met You, What I Had With You, That Was Before My Time, Nothing Behind You and Nothing in Sight...many more. I do 'em all from time to time. They tell stories, have melodies, are well written country songs. People dance to them and sing along with them. He was BIG!
Russ is an old poot. But he CAN play country when he wants to. Or has to. smile
