Years ago, I saw my teacher playing his VA7 arranger and a Hohner melodica with a crystal mic attached to the bottom of it. It sure was ear & eye catching. It made the whole thing more vital and real. He got me a Hammond 44 a couple of years ago but I have never played it on a gig, and I was wondering if anybody plays a harmonica or melodica along with an arranger.
I play a bit of chromatic harmonica - not as well as those guys though!
That's one reason I'd love to have a chord sequencer like Korg and Roland have. To keep my hands free for the harmonica. But those seem to do OK with one hand on the harp and the other on the keyboard/accordion. For now I play harmonica along with simple backing tracks that I made. I will give a try playing one hand on each instrument. Thanks for the inspirational videos!

It not the keyboard, it's the keyboardist.
I thought it would take two hands to play the chromatic harmonica, but the man in the second video seems to be doing just fine with one hand. Here is a man who has the whole harmonica in his mounth and plays it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFfDWRETqKw

I've worn several melodica's out. I used a flat one with a hose and mouthpiece into a mic. For some reason, the Hammond unit was way to expensive and didn't impress me.
I use a melodica all the time in film score production.
