I have been playing 50+ years now and seldom hear a "pants wetting" set up,but just did.

I use three main keyboards for gigging these days with the S970, BK9, and Audya76 in that order. I have used all three with the Bose Compact and the SSv3 with the Yamaha and Roland as well.

My Audya is normally my band keyboard because it cuts through better, but, since it is heavier, not carried with me as much.

My big revelation(for myself) is that the Audya and the SSV3 make a formidable combination. It is my considered opinion that it is due to two factors.

1. The Audya(or another TOTL KB) has a better inherent sound.
2. The SSV3 has the ability to bring this out due to it's ability to open and spread the sounds out.

I have concluded what many already know, and that is that if you want the best sounds out there, don't bring a boy to do a man's job.
Be it a PA4X, Tyros, or Audya, eventhough the MOTL KBs sound good these days, the TOTL is worth toting if one is able.

This is not to be construed to be adversarial or confrontational, just MHO.

I agree. However, I'm certain nobody notices or cares except you. And me. And maybe Chas. smile

IMO I have the S970 screaming on stage now, ....I will say its the best Yamaha everyday gigging arranger KB and I've had almost all of them for many reasons sound, styles, & design,
but it still needs some design changes of which you all know by now,....
but in good hands it really sounds amazing if you DIG INTO it's OS and tweak it up a bit..
Sure mostly all the TOTL units sound really great too but who wants to lug one around all day in & out, I look forward to the New S980.....I'm still not sold on the SSv.3 yet I just don't think it would fit into my needs arsenal,.....but good luck to whoever has it and enjoys it seems interesting enough....I remember my Roland BA330 with the WIDE sound feature which I didn't care for wonder if this is the same on the SSv.3.

I think you meant the SA300. I did not care for the SA300 in comparision with the BA330. It was muddy, and the hiss noise was too loud for me.

I agree with Dnj. For Yamaha players, the S970 does the job, and, very well. Can’t remember the last time I played the Tyros 5 outside the house. Sounds great, but, too bulky and heavy for every day use.

It makes a difference to them subliminally I hope, even if they don't know why. That's my story and i'm sticking to it. haha

Then you should add a loop playing softly in the background as you play.
"Bernie is great , Bernie is Great, Bernie is Great, give him a raise "

Sorry couldn't resist with the subliminal comment.

Great idea Bill, but the second part is a bit far reaching even if the first part is true.
