Bernie, many years ago just before the Kn2000 came out I heard a controller keyboard with six modules: Piano, strings, brass, woodwind, bass, and drums. I thought it was the best I had ever heard. One problem: each module was $900 to $1,000. It was the first of its kind.
I bought a Kn2000 and a Yamaha synth. Midi them together; the sound was good but far too much to think about. At one time I almost bought a sound module from you; I think it was the SD. ??????
To answer your question; I listen to the overall sound. That does not take into account -- a poor amp. poor choice of style --- or poor instrumental choices. Each time I have listened to a vArranger, there were some good individual sounds but the overall sound seems to be missing something. I do not get that feeling with Yamahas, Korgs, or Rolands.
Important; I am limited in this area, I know what I hear the vArranger might be the star of the future.
John C.
PS, I am totally anything that will take me away from my performance. Even, as someone suggested; after a while you do without thought I rather put my efforts in how I play and sing. I live with KISS. Keep it Simple Stupid.

My current rig is just the MJPro, a Korg Microkey controller kb that all fit on a backpack and a Bose L1 Compact. I'm a singing OMB and just waiting for the vArranger to have vocal input with processing/harmonization capability to replace MJPro. I prefer just to lug a 15" 2-1 touchscreen laptop, a compact, lightweight controller kb and a Bose L1 Compact.
